Veteran Services

At RTC, we’re proud to support those who’ve served. Our programs help veterans ride transit for less, get to medical appointments, and travel with confidence.

Reduced Fare on Local Bus Routes
Reduced fare is available for all active duty United States Armed Forces and veterans and offered at 50% off all fixed-route passes.

Free Transportation Through Veterans Medical (VMTN)
Available for qualified riders going to VA-approved appointments. This service is based on eligibility and availability. This applies to box local bus route and paratransit service.

Access to Paratransit
Veterans who have mobility challenges may qualify to use RTC’s ADA Paratransit service.

Veterans Medical (VMTN)

The Veterans Medical is a transportation service for eligible veterans who need a ride to and from VA-approved medical appointments within the RTC service area.

Local Bus Service
Veterans can ride any of the rideRTC bus routes to reach VA appointments.

Paratransit Service
Available for qualified riders going to VA-approved appointments. This service is based on eligibility and availability.

Service Locations:

  • VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System medical center
  • Mike O’Callaghan Federal Hospital
  • Nellis Air Force Base*

* Only at designated pick-up and drop-off locations. When scheduling your reservation, please ask the representative where you may be dropped off at Nellis Air Force Base.

Please note:
This service is intended to transport Veterans to and from their VA-approved medical appointments only. Unauthorized use of Veterans Medical transportation services may result in a suspension of service. RTC staff reserves the right to make the final determination regarding what qualifies as a valid medical use of this service.

Veterans Medical (VMTN) Eligibility

If you are eligible to receive treatment through the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System (VASNHS), then you may be eligible to participate in the Veterans Medical program.

To apply, you’ll need to provide:

  • A completed application
  • Front and back copies of the following:
    • Your Nevada driver’s license OR Nevada State ID
    • AND one of the following: VA health card, VIC card, or DD-214 (showing honorable discharge)

Apply for a Veterans Reduced Fare ID

Visit the Bonneville Transit Center, 101 E. Bonneville Ave., Las Vegas, NV

Bring a VA ID, DD214, or Military Retiree ID and Nevada ID or DMV card showing veteran status.

Paratransit for Veterans

Veterans who have mobility challenges may qualify to use RTC’s ADA Paratransit service for medical trips.

To use it:

  • You must be eligible for VA healthcare
  • You must live in the RTC service area
  • You must be certified to use ADA Paratransit
  • If you want to use Paratransit for transportation to VA appointments, you must be VMTN certified

Downtown & Veterans Medical Center Express (DVX)

DVX is a direct route to the Veterans Medical Center. Regular fare applies. The DVX arrives on site at the Veterans Medical Center northeast entrance.

Mobility Training

This free program helps people with disabilities learn how to safely and independently use the bus.

  • Practice real transit trips in a safe setting
  • Training available at the Mobility Training Center or through community services
