Overview
Alongside our core plans, the MPO is working on a variety of studies to help improve daily life in our region. These projects look at things like access to healthy food, safer streets, better connections to parks, and more reliable transportation options.Alongside our core plans, the MPO is working on a variety of studies to help improve daily life in our region. These projects look at things like access to healthy food, safer streets, better connections to parks, and more reliable transportation options.
While not required by the federal government, these efforts help us understand local needs, try out new ideas, and plan for future improvements. They’re an important part of how we support healthier, more connected communities for everyone.

Southern Nevada Strong
Planning for Our Region’s Future
Southern Nevada Strong is the region’s long-term growth and planning effort. As our population grows to over 3 million by 2050, this plan helps guide how we’ll build affordable housing, create better jobs, and improve transportation across the valley.
First adopted in 2015, the plan is now being updated to reflect what’s changed—from the pandemic and rising housing costs to climate challenges. Together with local leaders and community input, we’re building a stronger, more resilient Southern Nevada for everyone.
Safe Streets for All
A Safer Southern Nevada for Everyone
Safe Streets for All is a community-led safety plan to prevent deadly crashes and make streets safer for everyone, whether you walk, bike, drive, or ride transit. Led by RTC and local partners, the plan uses data, community input, and roadway design changes to help reach zero traffic deaths.
This work includes surveys, walk audits, and pilot projects across the region—all aimed at saving lives and making it safer to get around.
On Board
Planning the Future of Transportation in Southern Nevada
On Board is RTC’s long-term mobility plan to improve how people move around the region. Shaped by input from more than 80,000 residents, the plan focuses on expanding transit access, testing new travel options, and investing in technology to make getting around easier, faster, and safer.
Recent projects include new transit service for underserved areas, Game Day Express rides to major sports events, on-demand transit pilots, and contactless payments.

Cycling
The Regional Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan guides how we expand and connect bike lanes, trails, and sidewalks across Clark County. Led by RTC with support from the Southern Nevada Health District, the plan helps create safer, more connected ways to walk and bike throughout the region.
It supports the Southern Nevada Strong vision by increasing travel options for residents and visitors, and it’s part of RTC’s larger Complete Streets and transportation planning efforts.
