How to Apply

If you qualify for a reduced fare, you’ll need a Reduced Fare ID Card. You can apply online (for most riders) or in person.

Who Can Apply Online

You can apply or renew online if you are:

  • A senior (60+)
  • Active duty military
  • A veteran
  • A Medicare cardholder

To apply online, you must create an account on the rideRTC platform. If you already have an account, please use the same email address in your application.

Who Should Apply In Person

You should apply in person if you are:

  • A youth (ages 6–17)
  • A person with a disability
  • A visitor or new resident with a Reduced Fare Card from another transit system
  • Or if you need a replacement card

Seniors (60+)
Medicare card and/or
Valid driver’s license or state-issued photo ID

Active Duty Military
Active Duty CAC or Next Generation USID and
Valid Nevada driver’s license or state-issued photo ID

Veterans
VA Veterans ID Card or DD214 or Military Retiree ID (if applicable) and
Valid driver’s license or state-issued photo ID

Medicare Card Holders
Medicare card and
Valid driver’s license or state-issued photo ID

Youth (Ages 6–17)
Birth certificate or
Driver’s license or state-issued photo ID

*Students may show a current student ID when boarding.

Persons with Disabilities
Medicare card or original physician letter (dated within the last 3 months) stating the disability and length of time, and
Valid driver’s license or state-issued photo ID

Nevada Clark County WIC Participants
Bring all three:

  • Government-issued photo ID
  • Verification of Certification (VOC) letter
  • General Signature document from the Nevada Clark County WIC office

Visitors or New Residents
Valid reduced-fare eligibility card from another transit system

Riding with Reduced Fare

When boarding, follow these simple steps to use your RTC-issued ID:

  1. Show your ID to the driver to confirm your reduced fare eligibility.
  2. Pay your fare by swiping your pass or inserting exact cash into the farebox. (Paratransit certified riders can skip this step.)
  3. Tap your ID on the electronic validator near the front door.

Using the rideRTC app? If your ID is linked to your account, just scan your phone at the validator—no need to show your ID to the driver.

Purchase Reduced Fare Passes

When boarding, follow these simple steps to use your RTC-issued ID:

  1. On the rideRTC app The fastest way to buy, track buses, and pay your fare. Download the rideRTC app
  2. In person at the Bonneville Transit Center, RTC Administration Building, or select vendors like Albertsons and Circle K. See a full list of locations
  3. At ticket vending machines Located at major transit hubs and Deuce stops. Find a ticket vending machine
  4. On-board Some passes are available directly from the bus operator. See full list of options
