Andrew Kjellman

Andrew Kjellman is Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC), where he oversees the agency’s role as the region’s Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), streets and highways funding program, transit capital projects, transit amenities, information technology, and facilities.

Kjellman plays a key role in guiding the agency’s response to Southern Nevada’s population and visitor growth, including efforts to improve roads and provide additional transportation options. His contributions are essential to the agency’s current impact and future success.

Kjellman began his career in Seattle, Wash., working in both transportation and environmental planning roles for multiple organizations, including as an Environmental Field Planner for the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands. He then worked as an Environmental Planner with Douglass Consulting before joining the MPO in Yakima, Washington as Senior Transportation Planner, where he coordinated transportation planning.

He joined RTC in 2011 as an entry-level Transportation Planner, working his way up and significantly expanding his role and responsibilities within the agency before becoming Deputy CEO in 2026.

Kjellman attended Western Washington University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Planning and Environmental Policy. He earned a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Washington where he was a Merit Scholar recipient. He also received a graduate certificate in transportation from Portland State University.

After college, he traveled the world for an entire year. The highlight of that experience was a bicycle trip through the temples of Angkor Wat in Cambodia.
